It's Fight Night at Schumacher Chevy of Clifton and You're the Judge: Silverado 1500 vs. Ford F-150 vs. Ram 1500
Ready for a little action? Because we've got the main attraction. It's a big-time battle of light-duty pickup trucks here at Schumacher Chevrolet of Clifton. So, who you got? Our money is on the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. It's our reigning champion as one of the most popular pickup trucks in Clifton. But what's a battle without a little competition? We'll show you how the new Silverado 1500 matches up against the Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500. Three impressive trucks. One official winner. Let's view the tale of the tape.
First Round: Engines and Performance
Silverado 1500
Your Silverado 1500 is powered by one of four available engines. Each is trained and conditioned for a specific need. There's a newly coined 2.7L TurboMax, a 5.3L V8, a 6.2L V8, and a 3.0L Duramax. The most powerful pound-for-pound engine is the 6.2L V8. It takes the ring with 420 horsepower and an active exhaust that will shake the arena in Jersey City at WOT. With the 6.2L V8 or the Duramax engine, towing power reaches 13,300 lbs. with a payload capacity of 2,270 lbs.
Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 has a few engine combinations for its lineup. The options include a 2.7L twin-turbo V6, a 3.5L turbocharged V6, a hybrid V6, and a 5.0L V8. The ones that pack the biggest punch are the 5.0L V8, the twin-turbo 3.5L, and the hybrid powertrain. But they can't exchange blows with the Silverado 1500. Because with a maximum of 400 horsepower and towing and payload at 13,000 and 2,280 lbs., respectively, it'll have a tough time in the middle of the ring with a Silverado 1500.
Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 has a variety of engine/trim combinations in the ring. But is it enough? There's three V8 engines and two V6 options. If you're looking for the most trailering support, the 5.7L HEMI® V8 is impressive. But it only offers 12,750 lbs. of max towing capacity. But we'll have to admit, the Ram 1500 has a great one-two combo. When the Ram TRX connects with its max power output, there's up to 702 horsepower from its 6.2L Supercharged HEMI®.
Second Round: Interior Design
Silverado 1500
Round two introduces the base-level Silverado 1500 Work Truck. The barebones truck is a hard-nosed, head-down truck that is here for business in Paramus or Bloomfield, NJ. It has a cloth/vinyl interior and rubber flooring for easy cleanup. However, the Silverado 1500 can go the distance with an impressive upgraded interior design. Each trim level offers several enhancements, like a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, leather upholstery with open-pore wood trim and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 comes out swinging with an impressive interior setup. It maximizes potential space with the available fold-flat front seats and versatile middle console. The middle console can transform into a mobile workstation, making room for a laptop or a few devices while parked. That's the major attraction for its interior design. There's also an available leather interior and soft touch features as it tries its best to keep pace with the Silverado 1500.
Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 enters the second round with the best-in-class 45.2 inches of rear legroom. And the class-exclusive in-floor storage is another convenience that separates itself from the competition. But is that enough? Upgrades include perforated leather seats and an active noise-cancellation system, just to name a few.
Round 3: Safety and Technology
Silverado 1500
The Silverado 1500 truly packs a punch in the third round. The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System includes a standard 7-inch diagonal touchscreen, Bluetooth audio streaming, and Apple/Android compatibility. But you can maximize your comfort in Bloomfield, NJ, with a KO upgrade. Your interior design will include a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.3-inch cluster instrument. Chevy's knockout safety features include hitch guidance, Super Cruise™ mode with Trailering assistance, and blind spot management.
Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 tries to take the final round with a standard 12-inch infotainment display and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connections. But that's not all. The Ford F-150 sends a fury of punches with optional features like a Wi-Fi Hotspot, in-cabin navigation, and a premium Bang & Olufsen stereo. Standard safety features include automated emergency braking.
Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 enters the round with a less-impressive standard 8.4-inch infotainment screen with Apple and Android connections for its base-level models. This pickup truck is available with an upgraded 12-inch display, but it's not quite enough attraction to keep up with its competition. Available safety features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.
