The Long-Awaited Chevy Electric Pickup is Ready for Arrival

So, we'll be honest. The Jetsons gave us high expectations. George Jetson and his flying car. Elroy Jetson and his spectacular jet packs. And we can't forget the sidewalks that operated like conveyer belts. It's a life we all dreamed of having in "the future." And now, over thirty years later, here we are. No conveyer belt sidewalks. No jet packs. And although the new Chevy EVs aren't flying vehicles, they do move around a lot differently than the gas powered cars and trucks. The Chevy Silverado EV is one step towards the future we all dreamed of having. One that makes our travels less hectic, more efficient, and gives us relief that even better things are coming.

We're Not Gassing You—This thing has POWER

Who doesn't love a big, powerful, burly V8 engine? You'll be hard-pressed to find a city like Clifton or Paramus that doesn't have a group of eight-cylinder lovers. And for good reason. Those big-time engines bring big time power. But what if we told you that you could have V8 power without dumping hundreds of dollars into your gas tank each week? And without the costly annual maintenance? Intrigued? Because the Chevy Silverado can do just that.

The Silverado EV is powered by two electric motors. So, while you don't have that V8 growl, you'll still have that V8 power on hand. The base level WT trim will deliver up to 510 horsepower at full throttle. The top RST trim will kick that number up a few notches to 664 horsepower. And you can still tow a few tons with this all-electric capability.

The Silverado EV brings a max towing capacity of 10,000 pounds for the RST and 8,000 for the WT. But there are plans to bring even more towing prowess to the Chevy Silverado EV. Chevy announced that there would be an additional trim level that will haul up to 20,000 pounds.

Let's Charge it and Go

The Silverado EV is available with Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 charging hookups. The most convenient connection is the Level 1 charger, but it also takes the longest to recharge. With the residential 120-Volt outlet, you can get a full recharge in about 12 hours, give or take.

The professionally installed Level 2 Charger will replenish your battery in as little as five hours. But the public Level 3 Charging ports will give you 100 miles of range with just ten-minute charge. And when fully charged, Chevy estimates you'll clear 400 miles before its time for a recharge.

Key Features for the 2024 Silverado EV

What makes the all-new Silverado EV stand out? Well, besides the fact that it's Chevy's first fully-electric pickup truck. You might be surprised at what this vehicle brings to the table. If you're ready to be impressed, read along.

Big-Time Power

The Silverado EV will have no less than 510 horsepower and 615 lb.-ft. of torque. Higher trim levels, like the RST, will allow up to 664 horsepower and 780 lb.-ft. of torque.

Improved Driving Range

GM expects an EPA-estimated 400-mile driving range when fully charged. That's with a fully charged battery powering you along.

Impressive Technology

The RST model features a massive 17-inch diagonal infotainment screen with an 11-inch customizable display. There's also an available 14-inch Head-Up display and Super Cruiseâ„¢ with trailering assistance.

Good On-Road or Off-Road

The Silverado EV RST adds four-wheel drive, Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension, and a Multi-Flex Mid-gate with an optional Multi-Flex tailgate. This truck is perfect for pre-game fun at the stadium or off-road enjoyment.

Towing is No Problem

The Silverado EV adds power to your daily commute with up to 10,000 lbs. of towing strength. Payload capacity increases to 1,300 lbs.

Give Power to Your Electric Tools

The onboard 10.2kW power hookups with optional equipment are available on the WT and RST. Whether you need to power your grill at the campsite or recharge your electric drill, you've got more than enough to get it done with the Silverado EV.

Interior Design

The Chevy Silverado EV is expected to dawn a fixed glass roof with two-tone leather upholstery available in higher trims. The spacious and thoughtfully designed cabin will provide over 44 inches of legroom and over 65 inches of shoulder room in both rows. Whether you have a short trip in Paterson or a long journey out of Bloomfield, NJ, you'll have more than enough space to stretch out and enjoy the ride.

The column-mounted middle compartment will include a generous storage bin between the dashboard and the middle armrest. The dashboard construction is nearly completely digital with a standard 11-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8-inch digital gauge display. Other standard features rumored for inclusion are automatic climate control, Apple/Android connections, in-dash navigation, and Wi-Fi streaming. Higher-trim upgrades include a 17-inch infotainment screen and an 11-inch cluster instrument.

Safety Features

The Chevy Silverado EV will provide many different layers of safety for you and your family in Jersey City. Standard features will include automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection warning. Available upgrades include lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and the popular Super Cruise system.
