How Does the 2024 Chevy Traverse Compare to the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Kia Telluride?
Sometimes, you peek over at the competition. You want to see what they're bringing to the table. And be sure you have the advantage. It's the same thing for the Chevy Traverse. And in 2024, the competition stays the same. The Ford Explorer, Kia Telluride, and Honda Pilot. And while the competition is the same, a few things have changed inside of each model. Check out what you can expect-and why it's the Chevy Traverse is the people's champ.
Exterior Design
Chevy Traverse
The Chevy Traverse wants you to feel good about what you drive. From the aggressive 22-inch wheels available on higher trims to the exclusive RS styling, bodyside moldings, and off-road features, the Traverse has a bite to go with its bark. Step into a Chevy Traverse and see how much attention you attract when it's time to go to work in Paterson, NJ.
Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Cherokee stays consistent with the signature seven-slot grille. You can upgrade from the standard 18-inch wheels to available 20-inch wheels with U-shaped LED lights on the front end. Honestly, in a world of modern mid-sized SUVs, the Grand Cherokee isn't a bad second choice.
Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot does its best impression of a rough and rugged midsize SUV in Paramus. The front grille offers a slightly intimidating appearance from the rearview mirror, but you might not make too many people move out of the passing lane if you're barreling behind them. Wheel designs range from 18 to 20 inches, while slim LED headlights say, "I'm ready to party, but have me home by 9 pm."
Mazda CX-90
The Mazda CX-90 is a minimalist's dream. The smooth, contoured character lines blend in with the horizon and keep extra attention to a minimum. Charismatic LED lighting, an unassuming front grille, and assertive wheel designs strike an ideal balance between refinement and basic design. The available 21-inch wheels look great, but that's about all the aggression you will squeeze out of the Mazda CX-90.
Interior Design
Chevy Traverse
The Traverse is available with room for seven or eight, depending on your cabin setup. Comfortable cloth upholstery with heated controls and tri-zone climate adjustments comes with the entry-level model. Upgrading to a higher trim will exchange cloth seats for Jet Black perforated leather seats with torch red accents—just one of several interior options available to match your sporty exterior appearance. When it's time to tailgate or load up on groceries in Bloomfield, NJ, the best-in-class 98 cubic feet of cargo volume will certainly come in handy.
Grand Cherokee
The Cherokee loses space with its interior design when compared to the Traverse. If you don't need a third row or can do without max cargo room, the Cherokee could work. Cloth seats are standard, with available upgrades like leather upholstery unlocked in higher trims. With the second row folded, drivers will have up to 68.3 cubic feet of cargo room.
Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot stretches out with three rows of seating space that accommodates up to eight passengers. Versatile seating arrangements include second-row captain's chairs or a bench setup. The small third row is perfect for elementary-aged children, while Max cargo room expands to 87 cubic feet with both rows folded.
Mazda CX-90
The Mazda CX-90 creates a flexible cabin design with three-row seating for up to eight passengers. Entry-level trims feature leatherette seats, while upper-level models unlock Nappa leather seats with premium accents, heated second row seats, and other high-end upgrades. With all seats folded downward, drivers will have 75.2 cubic feet of cargo room.
Technology and Safety
Chevy Traverse
Every Traverse comes standard with a 17.7-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility, an 11-inch driver information center, and a wireless charging pad. Higher trims unlock the premium Bose sound system, Super Cruise, Traffic Sign Recognition, and an enhanced driving package.
Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee offers a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Safety features include adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. Upgrades include a 10-speaker premium audio system
Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot makes its 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12.3-inch driver information center available with an upgrade to a higher trim. Further upgrades include a wireless charging pad, USB ports in each row, in-cabin navigation, and a Wi-Fi Hotspot. Honda Sensing 360 is the standard safety package for this model.
Mazda CX-90
The Mazda CX-90 has several alluring technology and safety features, but you'll have to pay a little more to experience those upgrades. Entry-level models receive a 10.25-inch infotainment screen mated to a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster. Higher trim levels will unlock the 12.3-inch infotainment screen and LCD monitor. Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Monitoring are a few of the standard safety features.
